Composting - Kitchen Waste

This video below shows you how to easily compost kitchen waste like vegetable and fruit peelings, tea bags, coffee grinds, paper, etc. Pick a part of your garden that gets lots of sun. It is best to adopt a batch system for efficient composting. ie, when you have compost materials/ingredients 3ft high by 3ft deep don't add any more new materials. Instead start a new compost heap. Remember to water and turn each batch frequently (every 1-4 weeks) and cover afterwards with some plastic or some old carpet/lino (this helps it heat up and prevents too much watering when it rains). Your composting process will speed up significantly this way. The more you turn it the quicker it will turn into magic soil. Forget the Gym ... Compost! You should have a valuable soil conditioner/fertiliser in 6-8 weeks if you turn your compost once a week... takes 10 minutes when you get used to it (great exercise!). If you leave your compost sitting in a pile without working it, it will take 6 months to a year to break down properly.
