Mobile Phone Radiation

Every day, we’re swimming in a sea of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) produced by electrical appliances, power lines, wiring in buildings, and a slew of other technologies that are part of modern life. From the dishwasher and microwave oven in the kitchen and the clock radio next to your bed, to the mobile phone you hold to your ear—sometimes for hours each day—exposure to EMR is growing and becoming a serious health threat.

Mobile phones are low-powered radio frequency transmitters that produce microwave radiation. They are an essential for modern living that need to be used with caution, especially with children. With technological advances the mobile phone / like the internet is now a bug for monitoring your daily activities and habits too. Overuse of mobile phones also can cause stress in relationships as this CBS news article shows. The most compelling evidence that manufacturers are aware of the dangers are in the small print provided with mobile phone instructions where they advise to keep the mobile phone a recommended distance from your body, anything from 0.5 - 1.0 inch (this instruction can cover future liability on the part of the manufacturer!). Some manufacturers are actively encouraging the use of hands free sets and encouraging pregnant women and teenagers to store phones away from the abdomen of the body.

An article from the Daily Mail on the dangers of mobile phone use can be found here.

SOLUTIONS:

Do not give children mobile phones as toys to play with and limit your use of mobile phones around children so that they are not conditioned to see the mobile phone as a necessary 'toy'. Milllions of phones are broken each year by children who use them as toys ... the fault of the parent in the first place for giving their child the phone to play with. There should be a warning on manufacturer's instructions regarding this but, 'more phones broken, more new phones purchased !'.

Text is Best. You say what you mean this way until you can meet the person to discuss topics further in person. Use email or get back to traditional letter writing ... everyone loves to receive letters ... as long as they are good news of course. Telecommunications companies charge exhorbitant prices so you are economising by texting. I recently had to phone my bank, and using 'pay as you go', noticed a phone call that lasted approximately 7mins (of which 5 was 'on hold') cost over 5 euros (I know you can economise better with 'Bill Pay' ... just highlighting the corporation thievery that is a reality for some !).
