| Your Christmas Turkey |
|
Shirley Jones was an actress in The Partridge Family TV show. In this short documentary she explains how turkeys grown on intensive turkey farms are treated. Some scenes in this video clip are disturbing but should be seen if you want to be fully aware of how factory farmed turkeys are grown. (Be warned you may turn vegetarian - which isn't a bad thing!) Please be fully conscious this Christmas of the fact that 'You Are What You Eat'. Buy Organic Turkey if at all possible or better still grow your own. Like chickens, turkeys are easy to keep in your back garden. The difference in taste of 'natural' turkey is worth it. Here is a short clip of how turkeys are reared organically on grass, with clean shelter, plenty of space for excercise and on organic diet with no chemical pesticide residues or hormones. NOTE: The white turkeys in the first video are genetically engineered turkeys that most people are consuming nowadays. The reason they are genetically engineered is for quicker growth and they have a lighter skin colour for marketing. The black/bronze turkeys in video two are more natural like the wild turkey that originated in North America and was brought to Europe by early colonists.
